A light, hydrating scalp oil two to three times a week keeps both your natural hair and the braids looking fresh without weighing them down. Wrapping with a satin scarf or bonnet at night cuts down on frizz and friction considerably. Wash every one to two weeks with a diluted, sulfate-free shampoo focused on the scalp rather than scrubbing the length of the braid.
