Lemonade braids are feed-in cornrows braided in a single sweeping direction across the head to one side. The name comes from Beyonce’s 2016 album, but the technique itself is straightforward West African cornrowing applied with a deliberate directional bias.

Any inconsistency in the parting or spacing shows immediately because there is no symmetry to disguise it — the eye follows every row from front to side in one continuous sweep. Sleep with a satin scarf tied in the direction of the braids so you do not disturb the sweep overnight. Oil along the parts twice weekly. Because everything runs one way, new growth becomes visible fairly quickly — plan a refresh around the two-to-four week mark.
